Congratulations to the great Terri Lyne Carrington for wining the Grammy in the Best Jazz Album of the Year category with her “Money Jungle: Provocative in Blue,” for which I was honored to record the Percussion!
I’m very happy to announce that I just joined the MEINL PERCUSSION family! I look forward to play their instruments and create some wonderful new music with their support !!
Thank you Modern Drummer for supporting Arturo’s work! If you guys are into drums, please run and get the September issue of the number one Drum Magazine in the world! Arturo is featured in a six-page long article, along with Antonio Sanchez and Dino Danelli! The article, written by editor Michael Dawson talks about Arturo’s new commission by the Philadelphia Museum of Art, as well as other surprises!
JazzTimes Magazine’s May issue talks about Arturo’s new release: “Stable hangs his originals around the lifeblood of cultural tradition” (- Aidan Levy).
Dear all, if you are around the Philadelphia area this Friday june 21st, come and join Arturo for an afternoon of great music. He will be premiering a composition commissioned by the Philadelphia Art Museum at 5:30pm (concert will be at the museum). The composition is inspired by one of the museum paintings (Chagall’s “A wheatfield on a Summer’s afternoon”) and is written for String Quartet plus Jazz Quartet. The players are: Edward Perez-Bass, Nir Felder-Guitar, John Stenger-Piano, Eugen Kim-Viola, Yoni Idk-Cello, Azar Damirov-Violin and Yevgeniy Dyo-Violin…Plus Arturo on percussion of course.
This month of April, Downbeat magazine reviewed Arturo’s new release “Cuban Corsshatching”, writer Jennifer Odell mentions:
“Arturo Stable follows his 2012 duo album -Dos y Mas- with an impressive survey of his skills as a leader, composer and arranger…”
This March 15h and 16th come and join the Arturo Stable Quartet as part of Jazz en Rafale Jazz festival in Montreal, Canada. They will be performing at the Upstairs Jazz Club. The Quartet will feature Melissa Aldana on Sax, Edward Perez on Bass and Mike Moreno on Guitar.
Dear friends, I’m very happy to let you all know that the new album by Terri Lyne Carrington –“Money Jungle” (where I played percussions) is finally out! Anybody that considers him/herself a serious jazz fan NEEDS to own this record. TLC is a big inspiration to me. She is not only one of the top drummers of all times, but a serious composer and thinker as she has demonstrated over and over with her projects.
Spread the word!
Best to all!
Arturo’s new album is welcomed with warm reviews by the media! Check out this first 2 reviews..
New York City Jazz Records Magazine by Sam Spokony:
“…This is a great chance to hear Stable playing really provocative and complex tunes in the studio without a drumkit behind him to clutter things up. Whether he’s swinging deftly like a jazz drummer on “Mr. Brake”, or getting slow and emotional with cymbals on “Letters to Luz” ..( ).. Stable keeps it all fresh and interesting, with his strong Latin roots always perceptible..”
www.allaboutjazz.com by Mark F. Turner:
“…Stable’s writing is empathetic and democratic; exposing each musician’s artistry while subtly and expertly revealing skills marked by touch and emotion…”
